The Boys of Summer

This week I had two really great shoots.  The first was with two awesome boys.  They were soooooooooooo much fun to work with.  We had a great time.  These boys had so much personality.  It was really awesome getting to know and talk with both of them!  Their mother told me that they kind of liked baseball a bit, so we incorporated that into the shoot.  Basically it was our bribe for the other pictures.  Let us get these pictures and then we'll go and play ball.  It is so important to not only capture their smiling faces, but also a piece of who they were at that particular moment.  These boys are truly boys of summer.

Toland Photo Session

What was not to love about doing this shoot? Two sisters and one brother who were all great to work with. The weather was a bit dubious for the day with rain showers all morning long. However the old adage rang true Wednesday. "If you don't like the weather in Ohio, wait five minutes!" This was so very true. By the time we finished with our shots indoors, the rain had stopped and had even mostly dried up. So I took the Tolands on a hike out my back door! Here are more of the pictures that were not shared on facebook. Hope you enjoy!

August Thoughts

August is here already!  August is a really busy time here for me.  Today I spent four hours in my classroom unpacking and organizing and getting ready for those little ones to walk in the door.  I love buying school supplies and setting up the room and decorating.  It is such a neat time before the students arrive.  Then they come and it is just so exciting to get to work with them and teach them, and just be a part of their life.  To know that you are helping somebody become in some small way who they are going to become.  It is such an amazing blessing to get to be a part of and something that I take very seriously.

Since starting the studio in April, I have been very blessedly busy.  I never expected this kind of response and I am so grateful to all of you who have allowed me to capture your special moments.  It is a true blessing to be able to do that for people.  I'm a bit sad because it means that I am going to have to greatly reduce my appointment slots.  In order to still have to time to give my all to teaching and to be present in the lives of my children, I will only be taking pictures one Saturday a month, and two other week nights by appointments only.  It will be first come first serve sort of speak.  I wish that I could be more flexible, but family and my real job must come first.

Thank you again to all of you who have let me capture your precious ones.  It has been a true joy to work with all of you.
